Bringing Back WhatsApp
Back in January 2021, Data Axis Node made a bold move: we announced our decision to discontinue WhatsApp and adopt Telegram as our primary messaging platform. At the time, our stance was driven by privacy concerns, particularly following Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp and the subsequent changes in its data-sharing policy. Telegram, with its promise of cloud storage, scalability, and independence from Big Tech monopolies, seemed like the natural choice.
However, times have changed.

Telegram has recently introduced a mandatory SMS fee for new signups in certain countries, citing high SMS costs and the rise of fake accounts. As seen in the announcement, users are now required to pay a fee—currently pegged at US $1.25 for a one-week Premium trial—just to activate their accounts. While the reasoning is understandable from Telegram’s perspective, the reality is that this undermines one of the app’s biggest strengths: being free and accessible to everyone.
At Data Axis Node, we serve a diverse community where affordability and accessibility are key. Forcing users to pay before even starting to use the service creates an unnecessary barrier, especially for businesses and clients in regions where disposable income is limited. This change fundamentally alters the value proposition that initially made Telegram appealing over WhatsApp.
On the other hand, WhatsApp remains free to use. Despite our earlier concerns about privacy, WhatsApp still offers reliable communication tools without upfront costs. For small businesses and organizations, this affordability cannot be ignored. Moreover, it remains the most widely used messaging app besides it’s continuous updates. WhatsApp has improved its security features, business tools, and integration with third-party platforms.
Therefore, after careful reassessment, Data Axis Node has decided to reverse our 2021 decision. We are returning to WhatsApp as our official messaging platform.
This does not mean we completely abandon Telegram—we recognize that some of our clients may still prefer it.
Apart from Telegram and WhatsApp, Data Axis Node has a cloud service platform with text, video, voice and screen sharing features. This platform currently used for customer support. We look forward to a time we will create our very own instant messaging platform for new customers.
As always, we remain committed to serving our clients with transparency and efficiency. Communication is the lifeline of our business, and we will continue to use the platforms that best align with our values of openness, accessibility, and service excellence.
